Odessa Mission
John's Hospital Stay
These pictures are from John's recent hospital stay. He
apparently ate some bad fish and ended up in the infection unit of an Odessa
hospital where he spent almost three days. After a number of shots, I V's,
pills, and a special diet he was back on his feet. These pictures are typical
of how run-down Ukrainian hospitals are and speak louder than any words ever
could.
The message seems to be: "Don't get sick in the Ukraine!"

Entrance to hospital wing pic #1, #2, #3 - These are three views of the area
where you enter the wing of the hospital where John was treated.

Room that needs something - This room was near the entryway to the wing where
John was staying and it desperately needs...something. Any suggestions?
If you saw this room on your way into the hospital would you want to stay
and/or be treated there? Guess it depends on how sick you were and if it was
day or night.

John's hospital room - This is the other part of the room where John stayed.
Notice the TV (black and white only) and it had only one channel. Notice on the
right side of the picture there is a refrigerator which he was allowed to use.
Do you think they would be willing to substitute a color TV with two channels
for a refrigerator?

John looking much better - It has been said that
hospital food (and should we add drabness) is a great help in getting
patients to want to go home sooner. Although still hooked up to an
I V, John appears to be feeling the good effects of the medicine and
treatment he received at the hospital

Stairs to female portion of hospital - These are the
stairs leading up to the female unit above the wing where John was
treated. Pretty stark in contrast to what we are used to seeing in
the United States
